Faith is the confident belief or trust in the truth or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing. The word "faith" can refer to a religion itself or to religion in general. As with "trust", faith involves a concept of future events or outcomes, and is used conversely for a belief "not resting on logical proof or material evidence." Informal usage of the word "faith" can be quite broad, and may be used in place of "trust" or "belief."

Faith is often used in a religious context, as in theology, where it almost universally refers to a trusting belief in a transcendent reality, or else in a Supreme Being and/or this being's role in the order of transcendent, spiritual things.

Faith is in general the persuasion of the mind that a certain statement is true. It is the belief and the assent of the mind to the truth of what is declared by another, based on his or her authority and truthfulness. The English word faith is dated from 1200–50, from the Latin fidem, or fidēs, meaning trust, akin to fīdere, which means to trust.

Allegory of faith, by L.S. Carmona (1752–53). Veil symbolizes the impossibility to know directly the evidences.

What is the significance of faith or having faith in a religion?
Q. How does faith play a role in religion? Does religion exist without faith? What more is needed besides faith? Can faith and proof co-exist?

A. faith is used to stop people from asking questions they know it doesnt make sense, but all they have to say is if you dont believe it you will burn for eternity i.e. where faith comes into the picture the more you question it, the less you believe it

Can faith ever be convinced that the certainty of it might just be misplaced judgment?
Q. After all, different faiths don't agree with each other about the identity of the God they swear to have faith in? So this leaves only 2 alternatives to choose from. Every faith only exists because of misplaced judgment with the exception of one of them. Or all faiths only exist because of misplaced judgment. Which scenario might be correct?

A. It starts in the morning when I wake up and look out the window and see the beautiful world around me. I thank God for another day of life and say a quick morning prayer. I go on about my day and sometimes (most days) that is it. Some days I tend to pray throughout the day. If I see an opportunity to do a good deed I do it. Not that I need to but because it feel good to brighten someone's day. It can be as simple as holding a door open or saying hello to a complete strainger and asking them how there day is and wish them a good rest of the day. When I go to bed I pray a bit more. Again thanking Him for another day of life, health and happiness for friends and family. My life and my faith are pretty simple. Have a nice day and I… [cont.]
