Q. how does genocide impact culture? and/or how does it impact the future of the country?

A. "Ethnic cleansing" is the current form in which it occurs most often in Africa, the Balkans, and the Caucasus. It is the most destructive and inflammatory form of conflict that does not permit any compromise, conciliation, or cooperative arrangement. It is, literally, a fight to the finish. The belief that gives rise to the act is one of division of the community into a human and "other" or inhuman part. Worse than a conflict between us and them, genocide results from making a division between peoples who are superior or inferior, clean or unclean, good or evil. The form of the dividing quality can vary, tribal, racial, religious, national origin, etc. Having occurred, genocide tears the fabric of the previous culture beyond repair,… [cont.]

What is the difference between genocide and political crimes?
Q. according to the 1948 genocide convention, political crimes cannot be tried under (registered as) genocide, therefore genocide is technically not a political crime.
Asked by Deaglan M - Wed Jan 7 22:56:20 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Yes, genocide is a more serious crime than a political crime. Thats why a political crime is not considered as a genocide crime and the punishment will be less. You don't try a political criminal as if he did a genocide. You might kill a person or more for a political gain but in genocide you are talking about killing a generation, exterminating a nation. There is racism and other things involved. It is much more than a political gain or has nothing to do with it. It could be just religous fanatic reasons, hatred and other things.

A. IM suprised no one said this, but the Armanian Genocide. Happening in the ottoman empire around the start and finish of WWI. 1 similarity is that they were christian, in muslim land, while the jews were jewish in German (aerian) lands. They were both used as scapegoats, the people. And most of them involved were killed.

How did the genocide in Rwanda affect the world?
Q. Since the holocaust, the US promised to act when there is a genocide in the world, but they didn't do anything in the Rwanda genocide. The US actually treated the genocide as if it wasnt genocide but some kind of civil war when there was hard evidence of acts of genocide. Did the genocide in Rwanda make people more aware that there are genocides occuring around the world? Or are the people still ignorent of the facts?

The US just pulled out of Vietnam, they didn't want anything to do with Southeast Asia during that time! We pulled out of Vietnam officially (completely) in 1975. We lost close to 60,000 Military and spent, in today's dollars, probably about a trillion dollars. What is the difference between the terms genocide and ethnic cleansing? Why does that difference exist?
Q. The U.N. takes its time to consider something a genocide, like what they did in Darfur's case. Ethnic cleansing is not defined as a punishable act in international laws, so does calling something ethnic cleansing relieve pressure on the U.N. and allow them to turn the other cheek?

A. Ethnic cleansing is the forcible removal of an ethnic group from a specified area. Genocide is the mass murder of people of a specific ethnicity. While you can certainly make arguments against the former, I think you will agree that the latter is far worse.

What does it take for a nation to recognize a Genocide?
Q. Are there any known agreements that imply for a country to do something if they recognize a genocide? Does the United Nations Genocide Convention have to acknowledge the Genocide for it to be accepted or must a nation recognize the genocide ? I have a research project to do on Genocide, so I would appreciate it if you would give me the place where you got the information from.

A. It takes alot, Genocide means that countries of the U.N. must act.. therefore they use the words "acts of genocide" which allows them to recognize it somewhat but not have to act, even though we as humans know it is wrong but fail to do anything about it.

Is the Darfur Conflict considered an official genocide by the UN?
Q. I have been hearing all about darfur being a genocide. But, every web site that I have been to calls it a conflict. I need to know whether or not it is a genocide.
Asked by Conservative & American - Wed Nov 14 15:29:26 2007 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments
A. As of 2005 (the last reference I could find), the UN was referring to "mass murders," but not genocide. However, many other groups, including the International Association of Genocide Scholars, The United States Congress, and many activist groups and Jewish organizations, consider it a genocide. Personally, I believe it is - but to answer your question, the UN has not yet made that statement. You can find details at the link I've provided.

What is the difference between Genocide and Ethnic Cleansing?
Q. I keep seeing "ethnic cleansing" used in the media, particularly in reference to the war in Iraq. Does this mean that there is genocide going on there? If so why aren't more people concerned? What exactly is the difference between these two terms, or are they synonyms?
Asked by ARKdeEREH - Tue Mar 11 20:27:30 2008 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments
A. There is no difference--if you look at it. The US military is clearly guilty of mass genocide on a number of ocassions--but all we see is one coverup after another; in a blind attempt to keep the truth from the people. (Fog of war syndrome.) And here we have a suppressed people (the Shiites) taking their pound of meat against the Sunnis and--again--the US military does NOTHING to stop the ethnic clensing. And when all is said and done, Bush has claimed that the "surge" he instituted is a success--not realizing that there was no real victory to begin with. The Shiites did what they wanted and we let them. (Tit for tat killings.) What's even worse? We're ARMING our former Shiite enemies and paying them not to kill our troops.

How have the agriculture and scarce resources impacted the genocide in the Sudan?
Q. I'm writing a paper on the causes of the genocide Darfur/ Civil war in Sudan and i cannot find much on how the scarce resources and the agriculture has impacted the genocide
Asked by Alec - Mon Jan 5 19:00:09 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The cause is not agricultural or scarcity of resources. It is the lack of compassion and humanity of other nations to prevent something like this from happening. There is enough food and resources to feed the world twice over. We have a joint military might to stop it by tomorrow. We just don't want to give the resources or stop it because some of the bigger nations are significantly profiting from the war, or they have nothing to gain from stopping it. Do you really think the war will stop if there is enough food there? It will simply prolong it because, the soldier will have enough food to war even longer. Have children and make bigger armies.

Which one of them was true? None of them. So if Bush can fool all the world, Turk haters can do it too. You read only one book. Do you know how many books exist that state there was no Armenian genocide? How could one make a judgment about an event before listening to what two sides tell? A. 2.2 Million refugees where displaced and an estimated 200,000 Bosnians were killed by the Serbian political authorities according to the Bosnian Government, however the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia(ICTY) has the numbers much lower at about 103,000. The International Committee of the Red Cross says that 200,000 people were killed, 12,000 of them children, up to 50,000 women were raped, and 2.2 million were forced to flee their homes. The Research and Documentation Center in Sarajevo claims that only 97,214 people died during the Bosnian War So you can see there are no definate numbers it all depends on who you ask Edit: First of all I'm not now nor have I ever been a "Marine" 2nd, No where in my answer did I… [cont.]
